CS:GO’s Eighth Consecutive Major Championship, first in North America

November 20, 2015 – Valve today announced its next CS:GO Major Championship is happening next spring during MLG Columbus 2016, with the final matches being held at Nationwide Arena.

Taking place March 29 – April 3 in Columbus, Ohio, CS:GO’s next Major Championship will feature the top eight teams from DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca, who will compete against eight Challengers decided by an offline qualifier.

The six-day event will be streamed live via continuous high-quality coverage provided by MLG, with all matches featured on the official stream.

As with previous Majors, CS:GO fans will have an opportunity to directly support their favorite teams by purchasing exclusive MLG Columbus 2016 stickers, with 50% of the proceeds going to players and organizations. From the three 2015 Major Championships, professional CS:GO players and organizations earned more than $9 million through tournament prizes and sticker sales.

Columbus will mark the eighth Major Championship for CS:GO held since 2013, and the first Major held in North America. In 2015 CS:GO Major Championships drew record-breaking audiences, reaching over 1.2 million concurrent online viewers during their grand finals.

MLG Columbus 2016 will span six days, and will feature a $250k prize pool. Viewers can watch live in-game streaming, behind-the-scenes footage of players and Counter-Strike personalities, an All-Star match, and a special viewing party hosted by MLG. Group stage and quarterfinal matches will be played at the MLG Arena, while the remaining matches will be played over two days at the state-of-the-art Nationwide Arena.
